Ocean Lifeline is a progressive not for profit organization consisting of a team of marine conservationists, film makers, underwater videographers, photographers and educators, and fiscally sponsored by New York Women In Film and Television. With leadership from Cynthia Carvajal and her team, they were awarded the gold seal of approval from the New York State Education Department. What makes OLL unique is “our ability to communicate current ocean affairs through powerful imagery: projections, photography and video. The ocean’s lifeline is our lifeline. Protect the future!”

The latest project Cynthia organized was a community outreach ocean mural for students effected by hurricane Sandy. Here is a great video of the process. https://vimeo.com/64787165. She is going back to the school this month to take pictures of the final piece.

How has your Nominees efforts made a difference for the better?

Ocean Lifeline has made a significant impact on raising awareness of the urgent need for protection of our oceans by the use of stunning visual photography and events.

How will being recognized as a YachtWorld Hero further your nominee’s cause?

More awareness will help garner support for their mission to maintain the homeostasis of the oceans on a macroscopic level, enacting worldwide protection for marine-life from environmental harm and human destruction. Ocean Lifeline is committed to preserve the life of dolphins, whales, sharks, manta rays and marine life through a series of educational research, strategic campaigns and documentaries.

Patrick Rynne’s Waterlust.org is in its infant stages, but they have already stirred up plenty of attention. He is bringing scientists, explorers, athletes, water sport lovers, and art together in the pursuit of raising awareness how one person can positively impact our ocean environmental crisis by inspiring and educating others with films and photos. They make films and more importantly teach people how to be filmmakers, enabling them to create more ocean environmental awareness than they could on their own. Waterlust.org is creating an online community of water lovers/protectors by providing an online venue to share films and images.

How has your Nominees efforts made a difference for the better?

Patrick Rynne and his filmmakers film all over the world, and are using facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram to promote awareness and #share the lust.

How will being recognized as a YachtWorld Hero further your nominee’s cause?

As a group of graduate students, they have literally zero budget. “Zilch. Nada. Finito”. Exposure as a YachtWorld Hero will inspire more people to share their ocean films and images for everyone to view.
